This is presumed to be what all other life on Earth evolved from. Something to do with DNA and Midiclorines, honestly I’m not too up on the science behind it.

So, I guess this is what those weird aliens used for seeding.

This is something pretty damn spiffy – yet I don’t pretend to understand it. It combines two things I’m facinated by, and yet confused by: programming and genetics.
Basically, this guy wrote a program to randomly generate colored polygons, then compare the pattern to a target image (Mona Lisa, in this case), and mutate or keep the progams own code based on how much – or little – the output looked like the target.

Fairly neat, I think. It’s got some pretty pictures at least.
