True, but I don't think that I'm someone that needs to be talking about it.
I don't have kids nor do I know anyone who might be in this position.

The people who need to be talking about it are those that either have kids who are - or are nearing - this age, and those that are in the position where this might impact them.

I would like to agree with you, but I think that's being overly optimistic. Looking at the format of the show, and the network that it's on, and the pedigree of the show, I think it's quite safe to say that there will be no mention of choice, no allowance for debate.

I'm pretty sure the exchange will go something like this:

Girl - Mom, dad... I've got something to tell you.
Mom/Dad - Yes?
Girl - I got knocked up.
Dad - We're very disappointed in you.
Mom - Quite. How could you do such a horrible thing? Your entire life is now wasted and lost!
Dad - But, don't worry. We'll make it through this, together.
Girl - Thanks mom and dad.
Mom - I guess we'd better dig out the old crib.

-End-

I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't see that happening in this case.

Remember Murphy Brown? The huge uproar that was created when she considered an abortion, but eventually decided to have the kid? That was some damn good TV, that got people thinking and talking...

This? I don't see this having the balls to do it.

Now now... I actually liked 7th Heaven. It was so far from reality that it was a good escape mechanism. If you want to be realistic and analytical... How a MINISTER could feed and clothe a family of 9 PLUS all of the misfits that they adopted through out the years says a lot about the state of organized religion. I think 7th Heaven did as much to damage "religion" as it did to help.

I concur with the pregnancy and sex dissertation above. However, the show is enough to bring UP the debate which allows the discussions to be had... so it's not ALL bad, right?
