Here’s a handy link: LHC Web Cams.
Not much going on lately – things have been rather calm at the Dunny Cave.
Today I stayed home from work – it was my “Day Sans Pay” thing, mandatory for anyone who breaks a government car. How did I spend this day of company imposed exile? Did I use it to reflect upon my misdeeds, to better myself and those around me, to prevent such an occurrence from happening again?
The hell I did! I spent it in bed. Sleeping. Or reading.
Mostly sleeping.
I have started playing WoW again – but I’m hiding myself away on one of the servers with a very low population. Not sure why, but the game seems to be a lot easier when there aren’t half a billion asshats also trying to kill the same thing you are… I’m actually almost enjoying it.
Right I’m I’m rolling as an Undead Mage, and that’s a ton of fun. Throwing fire and ice, eating what I kill… Totally digging it. Did try a Taruen Druid – not sure how long I’ll keep him though. Too damn slow on his feet, and the move set isn’t all that awesome. I’ll give it a few levels before I decide though.
I’m doing all the WoWing on my Mini in the living room. Got myself a neat wireless keyboard/mouse combo that totally beats the pants off the Apple wireless set I had before. Not sure if the Logitec wireless is better or what, but I’m really digging it. Only downsize is, well… The size. It’s much larger, but I suppose that’s not a huge dealbreaker.

As I write this, it’s about an hour until the Large Hadron Collider goes live, ending the world and all we know not actually doing much more than letting us know if our current theories on physics and such are correct or not.
I think it’s kind of funny that people get worked up over silly things such as this. Today, it’s slamming particles at one another at 99.999% C, just a few years ago it was the Y2K Bug, and before that? Rap Music.
I wonder – does humanity always have to have something to run screaming from? Are we, as a species, incapable of accepting that things are pretty much not that bad and we probably won’t end up going out in a blaze of accidental technological destruction?
That’s not to say we don’t have anything to worry about, because we sure as hell do. There’s the whole Climate Shift thing going on, and the steady threat of Nuclear Annihilation, but we spend more time worrying about things that aren’t going to kill us – or have a near zero chance anyway – than we do actually doing something about those that will kill us…
Bah! Maybe the LHC will just rip a tiny hole in space-time, allowing the minions of the dark Mirror Universe to spill over onto our Earth, bringing in a thousand thousand years of pain, suffering and tiny pointed goatees.
That’s right, 42 years ago today Star Trek first showed up on the airwaves, paving the way for Americans of all ages to enjoy hammy acting, cheap sets and more smarm than ever thought possible.
So, if you’re in the Las Vegas area, why not join me tonight at Qua-
Oh, right.
And now I’m sad.
Happy Birthday Federation, now try not to suck too hard in the new movie.
I think that there might be something sinister hiding in the new Google Chrome browser.
Something to do with Akamai Technologies.
But I can’t really prove it yet.
Turns out my fears were unjustified. Oops.
