The move @ work is chugging along according to plan, although there are now rumors that the move will be postponed until next week. This has both positive and negative repercussions on daily life.

On the plus side, it would allow for the rest of the department to get their shit together and, oh, actually pack a few things up! On the down side, it’d mean another week of, more than likely, me packing shit for people who are too damn lazy to do it themselves.

I’ve noticed a “bug” in this CLI theme for WordPress: It seems that doing a list of entries does not show them in the correct order. I’m not sure if that’s a problem with my blog in particular, or the theme itself. Previously, when I had used this theme it worked correctly – most of the time. However, I have since upgraded the version of WordPress that I am using, so it could be that. I’ve taken a tiny peek at the code behind the theme – which is rather impressive – but haven’t had much luck decoding all of it. Very well written, but I’m at a bit of a loss as to how it actually works.

The house buying process is also chugging along quite well – faxes have been flying back and forth between myself, the estate agent and the money lender. All told I’m rather excited to be buying a place, but I’ll be quite happy once the process is done and over with. I really want that house, and I’m having a good time keeping a positive mindset about it.

Hopefully within the week I’ll have confirmation that the house is, indeed, mine. I’ll be sure to keep this updated as events warrant.

Not sure if this is something that is of note or not, but I did change the titling of the blog today. I did this partly to keep with the overall “theme” that I’m going for, that is of it being a coherent log of my life and events pertaining there to, but also because I was getting a bit tired of trying to come up with nice little titles every time I wanted to add something. I think it works rather well on both levels.

I also plan to start using text color shortly, where needed and when appropriate, to better show mood and emotional inflection of the words and ideas I plan on posting here. Just another thing that HTML can do and, yet, no one actually seems to use.

So far I’m pretty sure that red will be used for such things as anger and/or things that are actually rather important, but other than that I’m at a loss as to what colors to use when. I’ll just figure it out as I go along, and retroactively add them as needed.

This morning, I awoke from slumber with an irritating headache.
By lunchtime, the headache had yet to pass.

As of the time of this writing, my head still bugs me. Even worse, however, is the burning sensation in my eyes. A mild itch, it’s more annoying rather than actually painful, yet it’s still quite unpleasant.

Sent in the majority of the paperwork for my home loan; the process is nearly complete, all I need is a couple W2′s and a happy miracle. To think, just a scant few weeks ago I had plans in motion to move out of state – if not further – and now I’m looking to cement my stay in this town I love for at least six more years. How quickly one must adapt to the changing times and situations in ones life.

Speaking of changes and situations, I had the chance to see a movie last night, Spiderwick Chronicles, with my new friend Katt. The movie was rather fast and fun, a sort of light fantasy movie where the disgruntled and disillusioned youth discovers a world of magic and mayhem, quite literally, in his own back yard. There are life lessons to be learned by all, and in the end it’s a happy ending for (most) involved, if somewhat bitter sweet. The CG was rather cartoony, as befitting the nature of the movie.

We caught it in IMAX, and what I found oddly refreshing – People were actually quiet, and there were almost no children in attendance of this particular showing. All considered, probably my best movie going experience since Cloverfield, a view I’m sure I share with few.

On thing, though, that did catch my attention is how over priced IMAX is. The whole claim to fame for IMAX is the fact that it’s all digital on a huge ass screen. Well, it just so happens that my local megaplex is also all digital, and I’d wager that the screens are at least as large as the IMAX, and if they aren’t one can quite easily get the same experience by sitting a few rows closer. Also, it’s a whole seven bucks cheaper per ticket, a savings that quickly adds up for the avid movie goer.

The next movie I hope to see is the Jack Black/Mos Def comedy Be Kind, Rewind, the tragic tale of two hapless video store clerks who… do something. Not totally sure, but the previews are somewhat funny and include Jack and Mos doing their own low budget versions of the classic movies Ghostbusters, Robocop and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Not sure when I’ll be free to actually watch it, as I’ll be busy with the move (work, not personal) this whole weekend. Downside, stuck at work; Upside, 10+ hours of overtime.

Seriously, is a title totally needed?

Well, for those who read this – I’m really digging the old school CLI interface. I have to say, this is probably my favorite theme for WordPress. At one point I was considering using it for a different project – Project Tax Dollars – but since I epic failed at getting that off the ground, I decided this would be a good place for it.

I like how it causes a good number of people to forget that the mouse still works when using this site. Yes, I know it’s all scary and DOS like, but it doesn’t magically disable the mouse.

I hear that’s a feature in the next version though. ;)

One of the things the potential move has caused me to realize is I have a bunch of stuff. In my living room alone I have a ton of things that I’m not looking forward to moving, most importantly the Mario Bros. That thing took two of us to get up the stairs to this apartment, and takes two people to move from one room to another.

I’m thinking it’ll be the last thing out of this place, an the last thing into the new place.

Other than that, just a bunch of DVDs and books. I do have a wad of games and systems, and more little toys than is healthy… and that has got me considering getting rid of the majority of them. I’ll keep some stuff, like my Doctor Who stuff and my H2G2 stuff, but other than that? Not a lot staying.

Well, okay a *few* Star Trek toys too, but other than that? All gone.

This was a fairly productive week.

I managed to make it to work all four days – and am going to have myself a rather action packed four-day-weekend too!
On Friday I put a bid in on a house (just under $200k), a rather nice four-bedroom monster in North Las Vegas. I’m really hoping that I get it, too…

I know there are those out there who don’t like NLV – or LV at all for that matter – but, to them I can only say “This is my home now, this is where I’m comfortable, this is where I want to live. And, really, it’s a fucking awesome house. I mean, really fucking amazing.”

Played Scene It over at Rich’s place, and won. By a large margin, if I do say so myself…
Did I enjoy it? Hells yes I did! I don’t get to win games very often, so when I do you bet your ass I’m going to treasure every moment of it.

As for the aspects of my personal life… Well, there might actually *be* a personal life soon… Nothing I want to talk about right now, right here, but suffice to say that my reluctance to talk about things is due to the fear of jinxing them.

My life, right now, is pretty good. Could it be better? Sure, of course – but all things considered I’m doing rather well.

Which makes a nice change, if I do say so myself.

So, I’m in the market to buy a house.
Huzzah.

It’s kind of expensive though- There’s the inspections and appraisals and all that fun shit one must pay for once one has found the house one would like.

It’s even more expensive if one finds the house one likes before ones had the time to actually set aside the money to pay for the above – because then one gets to beg, borrow and plead the money out of family.

So, what am I doing? Borrowing about 11K from my parents.

Ouch.

Still, it’s a fucking great house, and the next time any of you are in NLV come check it out, okay?
